102 ambulance service launched

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: Health and Family Welfare Minister Rajesh Tacho inaugurated the 102 Emergency Response Centre in a function at Naharlagun yesterday. Parliamentary Secretary, Karya Bagang, P.N Thungon, Mission Director, NHM, Dr. Moji Jini, Director of Health Services were present on the occasion.

It was a joint initiative of the Arunachal Pradesh Govt and GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute, Hyderabad.

From now onwards, any person in the state can dial the toll free number - 102 for availing 102 Ambulance Service. 102 number is accessible from landline, mobile phone, local telephone booth and can be dialed without any prefix or suffix. Anyone can call 102 anytime for any emergency and the Ambulance will reach them in minutes, stated an official release.

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: A two days training programme was conducted by Maku Maji Society in collaboration with KVK Yachuli at different villages of Ziro on September 16 and 17 sponsored by ATMA Ziro.

The first day training programme was conducted at Ribu of Hari village on the topic ‘Water Quality Management in Fish Farming’.

Subject Matter Specialist in Fishery, G C Nainwal explained the effects of different level of oxygen, temperature, pH, Phytoplankton etc in pond and demonstrated the liming in acidic pond to reduce pH.

The programme the next day at Pare-ami village, Hapoli was held on ‘Integrated Fish Farming.’ The SMS explained to the farmers on the importance of integrated Agri-Horti and fish farming. Emu bird rearing and use of its excreta near pond and use of oil café as feed was also demonstrated.

20 progressive farmers from various NGO attended the programme. The programme was also attended by G. Hocha DTO, K. Taya PTO and other experts from KVK.

Bharti Airtel announces launch of 4G services in Arunachal

Itanagar, Sept 19: Bharti Airtel Limited, the third largest mobile services provider globally with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, today announced the commercial launch of its high speed 4G services (also called LTE) here.

Airtel has led the 4G story in the country, having launched India s first 4G network in Kolkata in April 2012. On August 6 last, Airtel announced that its 4G services were available in 296 towns across the country.

Prior to that, Airtel had successfully conducted trials of its 4G services in select cities and leveraged feedback from customers towards strengthening its service experience, the release said. PTI

CM pays tribute to Late Tadar Talar

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki accompanied with Home Minister Tanga Byaling, PH&WS Minister Takam Pario and senior officers paid last respect to the departed soul of former PWD joint secretary Tadar Talar at his Model Village residence here on Friday.

Tuki consoled his family members while recalling his valuable service to the state.

Talar breathed his last on at Niba Clinic here on Thursday and his friends, relatives and lawmakers made a beeline to pay last respects.

Talar, born to Tadar Mali and Tadar Yaniang on July 22, 1954 at Paji village under Nyapin circle of Kurung Kumey district, is survived by his wife, five sons and a daughter. He had joined as a LDC in the civil secretariat and retired from GoAP service in 2013.

Awareness prog by WWO starts

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: The Women Welfare Organisation (WWO), East Kameng unit has started its month long awareness campaign on Health and Hygiene for adolescent girl, child rights, moral education and social services of the district in various schools covering all the schools of Seppa Township in its first and second day.

In the two days programme, a total of 710 girl children participated with great enthusiasm.

The programme will also cover schools of different blocks of the district.

The programme is sponsored by SSA District Mission, East Kameng.

ASM seeks fund to restore water supply

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: Claiming that drinking water supply tanks and pipe line of 24th Rongte-Rite Segment under Chambang CD block of Kra-Daadi district had been washed away in a landslide recently, Anchal Samity Member of the area sought allocation of fund from Minister PHED for restoration of the pipe line. In a letter to the PHED minister, the ASM informed that people of Amsuk Pinja village are depending on rain water for survival adding that there is no stream and river nearby the village. The destruction of the water tank has also hit hard on govt. ME school Rongte-Rite as the students and school staffs have to fetch water from Pari River which 400 meters away.

AYO attends ABSU anchalic unit programme

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: Arunachal Youth Organisation (AYO) executive members attended an interaction programme of Anchalic Unit of All Bodo Students Union of Assam on Friday at Hollongi. The interaction programme was concerning various difficulties being faced by the people of both states during frequent bandhs affecting from Balipara to Jonai in Assam. Career counseling prog for students

DAPORIJO, Sept 19: A career counseling programme for college students was held at the Government College here yesterday.

Attending the programme as a resource person, Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom spoke on dignity of labour and exhorted the students to be dedicated in their academic career.

While narrating his own experience and struggle in life, SP Taru Gusar called upon the students to be hardworking. He said there is no shortcut to success in life.

The other resource persons included P L Murtem, Advocate, Mejjo Ete, Bank Manager, APRB, Tayir Bulo, entrepreneur, the Anchal Samity chairperson and Assistant Professor of History, Jeevantu Tikhak.

CM inspects ALG construction

ZIRO, Sept 19: Chief Minister Nabum Tuki inspected the Outdoor Stadium and the Advance

Landing Ground (ALG) at Ziro today. During his visit to the ALG, he expressed his satisfaction over work progress and expressed hope that the work would be completed by this winter. The construction work for the ALG had started in Nov 2013 and so far 89 per cent of the work progress has been achieved.

Over 800 benefit from medical camp

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: Around 800 villagers benefitted from a series of week-long medical camps organised by the Arunachal Vikas Parishad (AVP) in West Kameng district, which concluded on Wednesday last.

A team of doctors of AVP led by Dr. R N Mishra attended to patients at Pudung, Membachur, Machiban, Salary, Subu and Namphrai villages under the supervision of AVP district president Roshan Dijo and AVP Mahila Pramukh Anjana Das.

AVP district president Roshan Dijo also urged the youths to take part in the AVP conducted village health workers’ training camps being held regularly in the district.

DC calls for timely completion of scheme

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: Tirap Deputy Commissioner Ravi Jha has called upon the executing agencies to ensure that the projects are completed in all respect including electrification within the time frame. He was addressing the 12th District Level Monitoring Committee meeting of Tirap district held in presence of all the Govt officers and officials from various departments and PRI leaders at DC’s conference hall, Khonsa on Sept 16.

Pointing out the limited working period for completion of works due to rains and other natural calamities, he said that coming five months are crucial for ensuring timely completion of project works. He asked the HoDs to submit a monthly progressive report to him so that maximum progress could be achieved in this fiscal year. The DC also exhorted the PHE department for an early completion of the Water Supply Project of Khonsa which is the lifeline of the town. Further, the DC urged the administrative officers and PRI members to monitor the ongoing schemes in their respective jurisdiction and share their feedback.

SHABLA for adolescence girls at Dirang

DIRANG, Sept 19: Two-days training programme under Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girl Children (SHABLA) under age-group of 11 to 18 years was conducted here today at CDPO office under Dirang ICDS Project.

Presiding over the meet at the inaugural function, Circle Officer Koj Yabyang advised the trainees to continue their studies while also making the best use of the training.

Senior Medical Officer Dr. S.K Singh explained the importance of iron folic acid and basic medical needs of girl children.

While explaining the importance of education, ADEO A.N Tukshipa also explained about the school drop outs of the adolescence girls and advised them not to leave their studies mid-way.

Kojin for strict monitoring of CM’s flagship progs

ZIRO, Sept 19: Divisional Commissioner, West and Commissioner GA/DA and Transport, Hage Kojin has inspected various Govt offices at Yachuli including ADC office, designated headquarter of West Divisional Commissioner and the DC Office, Ziro on Sept 17 and 18.

While addressing a review meeting with administrative officers at DC office yesterday, Kojin emphasised on the need to inculcate a good work culture and strict monitoring of the biometric system installed in the offices. Work progress and bottlenecks being faced in implementation of various developmental activities like construction of mini secretariat, CC pavements, Trans-Arunachal Highway, ALG, PMs packages were elaborately discussed during the meeting.

CM and Speaker inspect new school building

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and Speaker Nabam Rebia visited the GHSS Doimukh and inspected the construction site for a new school building today.

On the occasion, ZPM-cum-SMDC vice chairman, Tana Yayo submitted a memorandum to the CM seeking early sanction of post graduate teachers for Humanities subjects, renovation of principal and teachers’ quarters besides, construction of toilet and drinking water facilities in the school premises.

The school’s principal Nyagi Riba, SMDC chairman Tana Rekhi Tara, Anchal Samiti chairperson Yab Lotus, SMDC member Nabam Gandhi and various HoDs were also present in the function.

Kimin police apprehend hunter

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: Kimin police have apprehended one person for allegedly violating prohibitory order banning hunting wildlife.

Kimin Police after receiving an FIR from Lichi Sher Panchayat Wildlife Protection Committee arrested one Kholie Ramu of Lichi village for allegedly hunting wildlife in violation of the standing prohibitory order, informed Kimin SDO in-charge in a release.

The person was caught red-handed by the youth members of the wildlife protection committee while he was coming back from the jungle after hunting on Sept 16 at around 10.30 pm. Received the information over telephone, the Chairperson of III-Kimin Anchal Samiti and Chairman of Lichi Sher Panchayat Wildlife Protection Committee promptly lodged a FIR against him at Kimin police station.

The hunter was imposed heavy penalty by Lichi-Sher Panchayat Wildlife Protection Committee as per rule framed by the villagers.

The alleged accused has been remanded to police custody.

It may be mentioned here that hunting and fishing have been completely banned in Lichi Sher Panchayat Kimin since Jan 2015 and this incident would send a clear message to all who try to violate the ban order.

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: Karatekas of Arunachal Pradesh representing the country displayed stunning performance to win a record number of nine medals, including five Gold on the first two days of the ongoing Commonwealth Karate Championship at New Delhi.

The first day produced six medals, four Gold, one Silver and Bronze, with Lipin Ete winning the first medal in Girls Kata in below 10 years category. The second medal was bagged by Gyadam Doka in Boys Kumite in below 10 years category yesterday, informed India Team coach and Arunachal Karate Do Association General Secretary L Marik.

Atum Sono, Nabam Radhe, Mojum Dodum and Kamku Tallo won a Gold medal each in their respective categories on the first day while Raja Yangfo won the fifth Gold today.

Biplob Devnath and Yorjum Sera won a Silver and Bronze medal each in +76kg and below 55kg junior boys Kumite.

Atum clinched the first Gold yesterday in boys 12-13 year category in sub-junior boys Kumite.

Nabam Radhe and Mojum Dodum won one Gold medal each in below 52kg and 57kg male cadet kumite respectively while Kamku Tallo bagged his Gold in below 70kg male cadet kumite.

Raja won a Gold medal in below 61 junior boys Kumite.

Meanwhile, Arunachal Karate Do Association (AKA) President Likha Tara expressed his happiness over the state team’s superb performance in the highly competitive Commonwealth Championship and gave the team of dedicated karate coach and instructors credit for it.

“Years of efforts are paying off,” said an elated Tara, who has been working tirelessly for more than 30 years for promotion and development of karate in Arunachal Pradesh.

He hoped the karate players of the state would bring laurels for the country and state by winning more medals in the ongoing championship. P Nobin Jamoh, who won two Silver medals in the previous edition of the Commonwealth Games in Canada in 2013, will be seen in action tomorrow in men’s senior category. Compatriot Sinne Mikhu and Johny Mangkhiya will also fight for top honours in senior category tomorrow.

Morgue at State Hospital battles for survival

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: A morgue associates with the dead and dead bodies that often make people wary of even the slightest of thoughts on the subject. This department is as essential as water and food to human being for survival. Ironically, it is one of the most neglected departments in the health sector. The Arunachal Pradesh State Hospital Naharlagun’s dilapidated morgue is a glaring example of its kind. The dilapidated condition and poorly maintained building gives a spooky look to all passersby, sometimes even to its own staff.

A department source disclosed that the morgue was used as a store cum morgue initially but it was later converted into full-fledged morgue after two Forensic specialists, Dr. Techi Rekhi and Dr. Divakes Phinya took over the charge of Forensic section at the State Hospital.

However, the forlorn building is plagued with basic facilities and manpower. The current morgue lacks a reception area, and of the two separate post-mortem rooms, of which one is specially meant for decomposed bodies to be examined, is bereft of high power exhaust system and facilities of air purifier. Other facilities like trolley bay, body storeroom, deep freezer for dead bodies, doctor room, clinical forensic medicine examination room etc also do not exist in the morgue, informed Dr. Phinya.

Deputy Medical Superintendent of the State Hospital, Dr. Kenyi Ete said that there is a provision of mortuary with better facilities in ongoing 200-bedded building in the hospital premises. However, as per guidelines, the mortuary should be located in a separate building preferably away from general hospital crowd and should have a separate passage for both hearse vans and the relatives of the deceased body.

Dr. Phinya further informed that due to lack of manpower, he and Dr. Techi sometimes have to do the duties of a dissector, body packer and sweeper. “Two post-mortems in a day is quite acceptable for two employees, but three or four in a day is virtually impossible”, he said while adding that post-mortem cases have been gradually increasing which makes it difficult to handle.

“We also don’t want to work under such situation,” added Dr. Phinya with exhaustion all over his face.

It is said that conducting post-mortem is not allowed during night. As per the guidelines it has to be done with natural light, thus limiting the working hours. There is also standing order of the Supreme Court for mandatory videography of custodial death post-mortem.

Apart from professional stress, Dr. Phinya revealed that in many cases, aggrieved relatives and parents of dead persons threaten them of dire consequences and barge into their house while expressing dissatisfaction over the autopsies. “It is demoralising to work as a forensic specialist here. Instead of thanking us, people threaten us”, he rued.

He further expressed surprise at the lackadaisical attitude of the authorities for not taking keen interest to upgrade and improve the condition of the morgue despite repeated pleas seeking for fund to renovate and upgrade it.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Medical Superintendent Dr. D Raina confirmed that funds were released for renovation of the morgue four years ago, however he stated of having no details on it and suggested to speak with the Director Health Services. Despite repeated messages sent by this daily via Whatsapp, DHS Dr. Moji Jini did not respond to the queries.

The morgue was constructed in the late 1980s’ and early 90s’, and is one of the last standing structure inside the hospital premise from the bygone era. Even after passing of two decades, the state health department is yet to come up with a properly equipped morgue. The mortuary section also falls under the home department as the post-mortem involves criminal cases, which has to be monitored by an investigating officer.

Fake currency racket busted, one arrested

AALO, Sept 19: A team of Aalo police has busted a fake currency racket here with arrest of one person and recovered fake currency notes with face value of Rs. 1,79,000 from his possession.

A police team lead by Olik Tamut, OC PS, Aalo along with SI T Tali, Investigation Officer and SI T Gadi arrested one Md. Piyar Ali while distributing the fake currency notes in the market area here yesterday. The arrested, a resident of Masundi village under Bharatpur police station in Mursidabad district, West Bengal, is currently running a shop at Yingkiong.

A case was registered at Aalo police station (case no 112/15 U/S 489B/489C/34 IPC) and the arrested person remanded in police custody. DIPRO

Ering takes stock of flood damages in Lohit

TEZU, Sept 19: Member of Parliament Ninong Ering has made a whirlwind tour of the flood ravaged districts of East Parliamentary constituency recently. During his tour to Lohit district along with local MLA Dr. Mohesh Chai, DC Tamiyo Tatak and officials of WRD and Disaster Management, the MP visited the Dhura river that had inundated Changliang and Dhuraliang village partially and damaged some standing crops, orange plantation and agricultural land.

Expressing concern over the damages caused by the flood water of Dhura River, the MP said, the River needs to be tamed immediately with construction of permanent embankment. Considering the huge fund required for construction of the embankment, Ering assured to manage funds temporarily from the MPLAD to build short-term measure to channelize the river. While visiting the Sukha river which posed threat to the Advance Landing Ground (ALG), the MP also suggested the Water Resource department to make an estimate of Detail Flood Damage Report (DFDR) caused by the rivers of the district and submit it at the North East Council (NEC) for necessary action at the earliest.

Earlier, Soloi Ngadong, general secretary, All Arunachal Pradesh Gaon Burah Welfare Association submitted a memorandum to the MP at the Circuit House for construction of RCC security wall to protect their land from encroachment.

Expressing satisfaction over the work progress of the Alubari Bridge during his spot visit, the MP urged the engineers of Navayuga to expedite the project work to bring succour to the secluded districts of Lohit, Anjaw, Dibang and Lower Dibang Valley. Dr Chai also suggested name changing of Alubari bridge to Lohit Bridge.

Citing little hindrance to build 2 kms approach road due to non-payment of forest plantation at Digaru, the DC said that compensation issue cannot halt the pace of work. “The district administration is giving top priority to this project and by the end of this December, Namsai will be connected Lohit with road and bridge”, assured the DC.

Tapi Mra conferred Telegraph True Legends Award

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: Everester Tapi Mra was conferred the Telegraph True Legends Award 2015 North East yesterday at a city hotel in Guwahati. He is among the 12 achievers from the Northeast region to receive the prestigious award.

Speaking to ‘The Arunachal Times’, Mra, while attributing his award to his hard work and to the media persons of the state who helped in highlighting his struggles and achievements, shared that he was completely surprised when officials from Telegraph called me to inform about the award on Sept 1 last.

Mra, who had created history by being the first Arunachalee to scale the Mount Everest in 2009, is employed as the Adventure Promotion Officer (APO) with the Directorate of Youth Affairs on contract basis since April 2014.

He shared that his department is working on a Mountaineering Act for the state, for which the proposal has already been submitted to the state government to reap the potentials of mountaineering and allied sports in the state.

“Mount Kangte (7042 meters) in East Kameng district, the highest peak in the entire North Eastern region, could bring the much needed revenue for the state just like what Mount Everest has been doing for Nepal,” he said.

Lauding the state government for supporting the sportspersons, Mra added that with the passing of the Mountaineering Act, the lofty mountains of the state will be regulated, professional climbing routes would be charted out and the potentials of mountaineering sports would be reaped as the whole world will come and explore the mountains of the state. Informing that Sport Climbing has been recognised as an Olympic sport from 2016, Mra expressed optimism that the sportspersons from the state will represent India for the event in the 2016 Olympics at Rio, Brazil. It would be my duty to promote sport climbing events in the state and also nurture talents, he added.

“It is my way of giving back to the state and its people who have helped me reach where I am,” he further added beaming with joy.

Meanwhile, Arunachal Sport Climbing Association, president, Sikka Gapak has lauded Mra for being conferred the Telegraph True Legends Award 2015. He also expressed hope that the award would encourage younger generations to follow in the footsteps of Mra and bring laurels for the state in the field of Sport Climbing.

MLA clarifies allegation

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: Mariyang-Geku MLA Olom Panyang has denied the allegation of misappropriation of SPA fund labeled against him by one Thomas Borang of Mariyang town.

The allegation of misappropriation of SPA funds (2013-14) amounting to Rs. 7 crores (approx.) in the Mariyang-Geku constituency without doing any actual work is fabricated by Borang in his frustration of losing the last assembly elections to me, said Panyang.

The whole episode smacks of Borang’s frustration and nothing else, otherwise, he would not have dragged my name unnecessarily into a subject which I am not competent in all ways and means. I am only a public worker and have no authority to dictate my terms upon any government officers or officials, he said. The MLA said that the MLAs, MPs, ministers or even the Chief Minister are not in the line of duty to invite public tenders and take part in the process for executing any contract work(s) under any government or public undertaking, as the rights and duties of the legislatures and executives are undoubtedly well defined by the Constitution of India.

“The allegation on me of being personally involved in forging the tender papers and process for the works/projects is totally unwarranted and without foundation,” Panyang said, and requested Borang to validate the accusation as to how an MLA is competent to stage show the procedures of any tender process that too at the cost of obliterating the job of government officers and officials.

He further said that the firms who have successfully qualified in the tender process speak all for themselves about their credibility and credentials and they are not at all even distantly related to me. Labourers arrested by Assam forest officials

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: Seven labourers were reportedly arrested by Assam Forest officials recently from Arunachal territory while constructing the new government primary school at Raj Ali under Dollungmukh circle. The officials from Assam also reportedly warned the contractor of evicting the school. While informing this, Dollungmukh Area Youth Association (DAYA) has expressed serious concern over such repeated illegal intrusions by Assam forest officials and termed it as complete violation of the Supreme Court order to maintain status-quo along the disputed Assam-Arunachal boundary.

DAYA urged the district administration and Home department to immediately deploy sufficient police force to tackle the situation and file a contempt of court case against the North Lakhimpur (Assam) Deputy Commissioner and Assam Forest officials who led the team.

DAYA further informed about the influx of outsiders into Arunachal territory at Dollungmukh without obtaining Inner Line Permit (ILP) and urged the district administration for directing the local administration to drive out all illegal immigrants from the area within a week.

Airmen recruitment rally at Itanagar

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: The Indian Air Force is going to conduct a recruitment rally at Dera Natung Government College here exclusively for eligible unmarried male candidates of the state to join as Airmen in Group X (Technical) and Group Y (Non Technical) trades from Sept 26 to 28.

For Group X (Technical) trades the candidates must have passed Intermediate/10+2/Equivalent Examination with Mathematics, Physics and English with minimum 50 per cent marks in aggregate and 50 per cent marks in English or passed three years Diploma course in Engineering(Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Automobile/ Computer Science/ Instrumentation Technology/ Information Technology ) from a Government recognised Polytechnic Institute with 50 per cent marks in aggregate and 50 per cent marks in English.

For Group Y post, the requisite qualification for candidates is Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent Examination in any stream/ subjects approved by Central/ State Education Boards with minimum 50 per cent marks in aggregate and 50 per cent marks in English or passed two years Vocational Course affiliated/ recognized by CBSE/ State Education Boards/ Councils duly recognized at par with 10+2 by Association of Indian Universities(AIU) with minimum 50 per cent marks in aggregate and 50 per cent marks in English in vocational course. Mock Parliament held on perils of Social Media

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: In an effort to make the students smart users of social media, the Newman School in Neotan, Changlang district held a Mock Parliament on the topic “Social Media a Threat to Human Morality” today at the school hall.

The students were divided into two groups; one for the motion and the other against. The group for the motion was led by Mantai Losu of Class X. He and his group were of the view that because of social media there is rise in the increase in crimes among the students and decline in interpersonal relationship. “Social media has intruded our privacy and taken away our human relationship”, he argued.

Speaking against the motion, Pandu Urang of Class X and his team debated that social media has made our life easy and communication more effective and quick, and we must continue to use it with caution.

Speaking on the occasion, school Principal, Fr. Felix Anthony, appreciated both the parties for the hardwork and research they have done on the topic to have a very meaningful Mock Parliament.

“I am happy that we discussed on a very relevant topic today”, he said. It is so fast catching up with the students that they get almost addicted to it. The setting up of Internet De-Addiction Centre in Delhi by an NGO in July this year is an alarming example to this fact.

“Social media, though very effective and useful, can pose a big threat to human morality and cause a steep decline in the academic performance of students if they do not become educated social media users. Debates and Mock Parliament such as such this will help the students to become aware of both good and negative sides of social media”, Fr. Felix concluded.

BJP’s regional Maha Prashikshan Abhiyan held at Aalo

AALO, Sept 19: The Arunachal Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised a three days Siang Regional Frontier Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Maha Prashikshan Abhiyan at Aalo from Sept 16 to 18. More that 200 party leaders including delegates from four districts, namely, Upper Siang, West Siang, Siang and East Siang participated in the event.

Speaking on the topic “History and Development of Bharatiya Janata Party”, State BJP General Secretary and Prashikshan Pramukh, Dominic Tadar dealt at length on the party organisation right from Jana Sangh days to the present position of the party. He also highlighted the formation and rise of BJP in Arunachal Pradesh.

35 youths leave for skill development training at Kolkata

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: Altogether 35 youths selected under the Chief Minister’s flagship programme on Skill Development and Employment Generation have left for Kolkata yesterday to undergo skill development training in automobile, driver cum mechanic and account assistant at JIS Institute of Skill Development, Kolkata. The selection of the trainees was done through recent district level Job mela-cum-skill development awareness and selection rally held in every district headquarter throughout the state.

Speaking at the send-off programme organised by the Department of Skill Development and Employment Generation (SD&EG) at Udyog Sadan here, J. Riba, Assistant Director, Skill Development and Employment Generation and Avik Moharer, representative of JIS Institute of Skill Development, Kolkata briefed the youth about the training programme and other training related aspects.

The cost of the training including travelling both the ways, training fees, lodging etc. are being borne by state Govt. under Chief Minister’s flagship programme on skill development and employment generation.

JIS Institute of skill development will impart 6 months training both theory and practical including soft skill like spoken English, communication skill, internet browsing etc. At the end of the training the candidates will undergo an assessment to be conducted by an empanelled and professional organisation. The trade certificate will be provided to successful candidates by National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), New Delhi.

The State Govt. has signed MoA with JIS Institute of skill development for imparting training and to ensure minimum of 70 per cent placement (Job) at minimum monthly salary of Rs 8, 000 in hand immediately after successful completion of the training, stated an official release.

Kena exhorts students to give priority to studies

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: Parliamentary Secretary for Transport & State Transport Services Jomde Kena exhorted the students to give priority to their studies in order to contribute towards the welfare of society. He was addressing the inaugural day of the 5th general conference of the Galo Students’ Union (GSU) along with the election of new office bearers for the session of 2015-2018, which began at Gensi on Wednesday.

Speaking as the chief guest, Kena strongly denounced the political interference into students’ elections and appealed everyone to do away with such practices as it could handicap the leadership quality amongst the students and will lead to a complete collapse of the society in future.

Attending the conference, Dumporijo MLA Paknga Bage urged the gathering to contribute their time and energy towards the society and welfare of the fellow members. ‘The students are the future of the society and they too should have strong conviction towards his society, he added. Urging the students to adhere to their bye-laws regarding development works particularly, he advised them to have mutual respect and give space to the public representatives. He also appealed them to maintain peace and unity amongst them.

The conference began with observance of a minute’s silence as a mark of respect for the legendary singer Late Marto Kamdak besides, GSU leaders Late Goto Yudik and Jumpe Kamsi.

Earlier, GWS Interim Committee chairman, Hento Karga appealed the students to cooperate with the administration during the election process and cautioned that there will not be any compromise with law and order.
